Through Time: Prologue
A young child slowly stirred from his peaceful slumber. Rubbing the last of sleep from his tired eyes, excitement soon found its way onto his face. Today was the day, the day that he would finally get to make his own unique chronoscepter! He couldn't be late so he started to get ready.
After taking care of his basic hygiene, he took a look at his face in the mirror, he had messy snow white hair, and lighter brown skin. The boy looked quite different than one may expect. The whites of his eyes were pitch black, and his eyes were a bright cyan that emitted a soft blue light. The other different thing about his appearance were the tattoos that reached up from the bottom of his face, and almost covered the rest of his body. There was also a mark in the middle of his forehead, it was shaped like a sideways hourglass.
The boy was not human at all, he was a Caretaker of Time. The boy got dressed in a simple outfit, black shorts and a T shirt, and left his home with the same exitement he awoke with.
The boy was headed to his mentor's house. His mentor, the one who was currently teaching the boy the ways of being a Time Caretaker, was someone that the boy saw every day and spent most of his time with. Because of this the boy's mentor was more like a father figure to him.
Upon arrival, the boy threw open the door, and ran to the back door which led to the backyard. The backyard was completely empty, except for the elder man sitting on a flat rock in the center. The man had long black hair, which was tied up in a ponytail, despite his older appearance. He also wore black robes. His skin was fairly pale, in contrast to the boy's skin. The man also had the sideways hourglass marking on his forehead. Both of his eyes were closed, making him look either asleep or deep in thought.
He cracked open one eye and saw the boy standing there. Then he spoke
"Tempora. You're nearly 47 milliseconds early today, excited to make your first chronoscepter eh?"
The boy, now known as Tempora, is now bouncing around the yard.
"Be calm young one, come and sit down, clear your mind"
Tempora did as he was told and sat down, he the started to dismiss his thoughts until his mind was a blank. Tempora had a blank, almost distant look in his eyes now, he appeared to not look at anything, but rather looked through everything.
"Good, now we are going to start with your paired weapon. Out of all of the weapon training we have gone through, you have shown the most skill and interest with the katana, so that will be your mold, do you have any objections?"
Tempora nodded no
"Good, now picture a Katana in your head. Now, you must focus your cosmic energy in that shape, visualize your energy filling that shape."
A blue outline of a katana starts to form next to Tempora
"Yes, you're almost there, now focus it and repeat after me. My blade shall be my protector, my shield and my protector. Take form with me."
"My blade shall be my protector, my shield and my protector. Take form with me."
The outline then became a solid cyan shape, which then started to crack, then eventually shattered, leaving behind a gold katana, with a cyan edge with a glow, a single cyan stripe ran down the middle of both sides, each with their own glow.
"Are you ready to make your scepter? Or would you like to take a break?"
"N-no, I can do it"
"This one will be easier. I promise. Now focus your cosmic and temporal energy into your hands, next you want to put them together. Then the scepter will take its own form. You just need to hold it."
The scepter then starts fade into existence.
"You're almost there, now think about what you see when you hear the word 'scepter', what do you picture?"
The scepter then fully fades into existence.
The scepter had a similar gold scheme. It was a long, 6.5 ft rod with 2 cresent moon shapes on one end, one larger, with the other being inside it, each moon had a glowing cyan stripe running along the center. Inside of that second moon were 3 black gears with a cyan ring that were interlocked. The gears were covered by a blue screen that was partly transparent, and the screen had a black outline. Floating around the outside were three small spheres, each about the size of a golf ball. The first was green, the second was red, and rhe last one was a light magenta, each sphere glowed with its unique soft light. The other side had a blue part coming out of the end, and a hood curving up away from it.
"You've done it Tempora! Now go get some rest, I know that drained you... Tempora?"
A light snoring can be heard throughout the yard, Tempora had fallen asleep almost immediately after the creation process.
*a few hours later*
An ear piercing guttural cry wrenched Tempora from his blissful slumber. He awoke to see the city of Yogaia in flames. Out in the distance, he could see Sigmund fighting a large black figure, only to get smacked back near where Tempora was standing. Tempora grabbed his katana and scepter and ran to the side of his mentor as the enemy started to slowly approach.
"SIGMUND! ARE YOU OKAY"
"Never mind me child, you must-- AAUGH... you must leave this world, that is the only way that you will be safe"
He then reached into his robes and pulled out some garments, they looked like clothes, but Tempora was not sure.
"I-I cant sigmund, I can't leave you here!"
Sigmund has then created a portal to another dimension
"But you must. Goodbye Tempora, make me even more proud than I am right now. You will be more safe in Remnant."
With those last words, he pushed Tempora into the portal, with the garments.
"His first scepter was at least a level four, he'll be fine"
A small grin formed on Sigmund's face. The black figure he was fighting before has now reached him. It raised its right hand high, which morphed into a blade, and brought it down hard.
Tempora woke with a start, and immediately he felt off? The air was different, and so was the world energy. He looked around and saw that he was in a forest. What happened...--"AAAAH"
Something snapped him out of his thoughts, it sounded like a scream.
"Help now, memories later." He then put his katana and scepter on his back, and sprinted off in the direction of the scream
After about a minute of running, Tempora reached a clearing in the forest, and saw a pretty bad sight: there was a girl in a red hoodie lying on the ground near unconcious next to what looked to be a scythe, and she was surrounded by 8 black, wolf like creatures, and they were closing in fast.
The girl, on the edge of consciousness, had given up on living through this, and was preparing herself for death,"if only that beowulf hadn't ambushed her when she wasn't looking! ...Huh? Who is that? She saw a boy with a flowing black cloak like garment, a weird looking stick, and a pretty cool katana. "Is he challenging this many beowulves? Thats... crazy....."
She then passed out
8 well placed slashes with his weapon solved that problem. Upon their defeat, they all evaporated into black mist, suprising him.
"Oh... alright then, thats new. Wait how is that girl doing?"
Tempora walked over to her and crouched down to get a better look at her. This girl looked no older than he was, her fair skin was now covered in small scratches. She had a large gash on her back that tore through her clothes, reaching from her left shoulder to her right hip. She also had a red cloak, which was almost comepletely in shreds. It was clear that without help, it was likely that she would die. He could heal her there, in theory, but because he had never used this chronoscepter before, he decided against taking the risk.
Picking the girl up carefully, Tempora quickly climbed the nearest tall tree to try and find civilation. He saw a few buildings, but one in particular stood out, not because of its appearance. It looked like a normal house, what made it stand out was the people outside, they seemed to be looking for something, or someone. Thinking that they could help, or at least point him to someone who could, he jumped down from the tree, making sure to slow his descent slightly, and ran off in the direction of the house.
As he approached, he heard people calling out "RUBY, WHERE ARE YOU" This confirmed that they were looking for someone. Nearing the house, he saw a man with yellow hair, and a small dog.
"Excuse me, Sir? Do you know where the nearest hospital is? This girl is badly injured and--"
"RUBY, OH MY GOD! WHAT HAPPENED TO HER?!"
"I found her in the woods, she seemed to be fighting these wolf creatures, I found after she was unconscious. Is she going to be okay?"
"I think she will, thank you so much young man. What is your name?"
"My name is Tempora, I'm glad i could help... oh before I go."
Tempora may not be willing to use his chronoscepter on life just yet, he had no problem attempting to repair clothes.
He grasped his chronoscepter and with a twirl, pointed it at the girl, now known as Ruby. He focused his cosmic energy into the creation affinity, and gave the task of fix. He focused on rhe the clothing, and it started to put itself back together at the rips. It seems he overdid it with that cosmic energy however, and Ruby's minimal injuries healed, and the bleeding of her back injury stopped, this went unnoticed by tempora though, and after he saw that the cloak was completely fixed, he waved goodbye and left.
If he was to master the scepter, there was training to be done
3 Years Later
Tempora had never been to the town before, although he was aware of its existence and location, he never needed to go there, but in celebration of finally mastering control over his temporal energy of the scepter, he was gonna go and see it.
Sticking the sword and scepter on his back, he headed off into town.
None of the buildings he saw interested him at all, until he saw a shop. From dust till dawn. The shiny crystals in the window had grabbed his interest and he hurried inside the shop. He went to the back of the shop and just marveled at the beautiful stones for the bettter part of an hour when he heard a window breaking. He turned to the source of the sound to see that while he was in the back corner of the shop, a robbery had been taking place! How could he have been so oblivious. Outside of the broken window, he saw a familiar face, it was that girl from 3 years ago, she was chasing a man in a white coat and a weird hat. Tempora took his katana, recently named Yogaia, and ran towards them. The man in the white coat was climbing the ladder rather slowly, so it gave Tempora plenty of time to run up to the building. When he got up to the top of the building, he heard the man say "END OF THE LINE RED!"
Now was the time to do something risky.
Glynda Goodwitch had seen Roman Torchwick throw the dust crystal at the young girl, and prepare to fire at it, and she decided to take action, one of the thugs whom she thought were unconcious had distracted her with his gun though, and she would not make it in time, however, she saw a boy, around the same age of the girl point a golden sword at the blast that has just been fired and the blast started to slow down, until it halted comepletely and exploded prematurely. Though this surprised both parties, including herself, it gave the bullhead the opportuntity to leave.
After it was comepletely out of reach, she approached the two.
"You two are coming with me."
Tempora was told to wait outside while the older gentleman spoke with the girl. It hasn't been long but he is getting kinda hungry, and he could really go for a fish right about now, even though thats the only food he has had access to since being here.
The woman from before snapped him out of his fish daydream when she tapped him on the head.
"Professor Ozpin would like to see you"
Tempora followed the woman into the room as the little red girl sas leaving. It was as if she never even saw him.
"Hello, come have a seat."
Tempora sat in one of the chairs, it was warm, as if recently occupied. The scepter could not fit in the chair, and so held it in his hands.
"What is your name, son?"
"My name is Professor Ozpin, its nice ti neet you Tempora."
Professor Ozpin took a drink from his mug, and started speaking again.
"So from what I am told, you exhibited a unique ability when you were out fighting, my assistant told me that you slowed a blast of dust down and made it explode?"
"Y-yes, but I don't think I was the one fighting, that other girl did most of the work."
"Well either way, I think that you would have a great opportunity to further the development of your talents at my school. What do you say, would you like to come to beacon"
Tempora thought for a moment, if he went to this school, it would probably mean no more sleeping in trees, no more annoying giant black bird things, no more scorpions, and most importantly, no more fish for dinner every night... that sold him.
"I'd love to, thank you for the opportunity."
Ozpin had successfully convinced the young boy to join his school, but he still wanted to see the boy's power for himself.
He reached for his cup, and 'accidentally' knocked it off the desk.
At the same time, Tempora's reflexes kicked in and he reversed the time on the cup and its contained liquid 3 seconds.
"Ah, thank you, I will see you at Beacon young man."
Aaaand thats a wrap, a chicken wrap.
I like those
If you made it here, thanks for reading, and I will update as soon as I think up the next part.
